Worship Services at Trinity
Starting September 13, 2009, we have 2 services: 8:30 AM and 10:45 AM, with classes starting at 9:30 AM.
Pleasenote that February 14, 2010 is our pastor, Rev. Raymond I. Massey II's 25thanniversary at Trinity. There will be only one service at 10:45 a.m. onthat day. A dinner celebrating the anniversary will be held at 5 p.m.at the new Fellowship Hall of First Presbyterian Church (16 Hitt St.,Columbia.)
Rooted in the reformed tradition of Martin Luther and John Calvin, the Presbyterian Church places great emphasis on the worship service as one of the church’s most important responsibilities.
The Presbyterian Church’s Book of Order includes the proclamation of the Gospel, the spiritual fellowship of the children of God, the maintenance of divine worship and the preservation of the truth, and the exhibition of the Kingdom of Heaven as five of the six Great Ends Of The Church. The worship service is just one of the concrete ways in which the church attempts to promote those principles.
In line with the Book of Order’s goals, Trinity’s worship services are centered on the reading and exposition of Biblical scripture. Presbyterians believe that Christians should work to develop an understanding of what we believe, why we believe it and how those beliefs affect how we live.
Trinity holds two worship services at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m., usually from Labor Day to Memorial Day. The early service is a more contemporary “blended” service, while the later service is more traditional.
